"The Prince of Americana" - The New York Times
Jackie Greene, the Americana phenom from Sacramento who made his first album only six years ago and has steadily built up a passionate following, has toured with a who’s-who of American roots music - Buddy Guy, Elvis Costello, Susan Tedeschi, Willie Nelson, B.B. King and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. He will bring his own tour to Phoenix on Thursday, August 28 to perform at The Rhythm Room. The show will begin at 7:30pm.
Green released his fifth album “Giving Up The Ghost” in April and has been receiving rave reviews.
In the review of the album, The Los Angeles Times said, “IT'S possible, but hardly common, for a singer-songwriter to sound echoes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Gram Parsons, Elvis Costello and Paul Westerberg, all of which Jackie Greene does on his fifth album.”
Greene recently finished touring with Phil Lesh and Friends, who he joined in 2007, taking most of the lead vocals as well as playing keyboards and guitar – Lesh has described his playing as “impeccable.” In February 2008, when the surviving members of The Grateful Dead reunited to play for presidential candidate Barack Obama, Greene was playing with the band.
