Accused Robber Makes Court Appearance

Dennis-GuerroA man who allegedly conducted several armed robberies recently in Yuma appeared in court on Monday.

42-year-old Dennis Aguerro is charged with numerous counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and theft after being tied to robberies at various liquor and grocery stores, as well as a local taco shop.

There are 18 charges against Aguerro altogether.  The judge agreed with prosecutors that the $1.5-million bond should stand considering the seriousness of the crimes in which he used a 16-year-old accomplice.

State prosecutors explained to the judge that Aguerro would drive his co-defendant to a store and would wait outside in the car while his teenage accomplice did his dirty work.  They also presented evidence saying Aguerro had detailed maps of a home in Somerton where he was planning his next robbery.
