Police Continue To Search For Hit And Run Driver Who Hit Toddler In Parking Lot

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says they continue on the lookout for the person who hit a toddler in a parking lot and then sped away Thursday.  Police say the three-year-old toddler, Michael Rodriguez was flown to Children’s Hospital in Phoenix over the weekend.  Doctors say he has two broken hips and internal bleeding.  Michael is currently unable to walk.  ... High-Speed Pursuit Ends With Crash And Arrest

Police say a high-speed chase led to the arrest of one person.  The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Enrique Rivera led police on the chase Saturday night after police tried to stop him.  Police say the high speed chase exceeded speeds of 100-miles-per-hour, before the car crashed into another vehicle at the corner of Avenue “B” and 24th Street.  ... AWC Professor Arrested

An Arizona Western College professor has been arrested.  The Yuma Sun is reporting that Henry Averhart was arrested a couple of weeks ago and extradited to Michigan.  Averhart has been a professor at AWC for about two years, helping to teach five different classes.  Officials do say the charges against Averhart are not related to his position or any other ... Sewer Rate Hike Not As High As Feared

A rate hike proposed by Far West Water has now been lowered.  The original request to raise the base sewer rate to $62.65 has been adjusted to $57.77 per month.  The utility says without a substantial rate increase on Sewer service, they may go bankrupt.  The Yuma Sun reported on Sunday that the Corporation Commission staff recommended the latest rate ... Board Of Supervisors To Meet Today

Woman Dies After Crashing Car Into Mittry Lake

One person was killed on Wednesday night after she lost control of her vehicle in the Mittry Lake area.  The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Maria Celina Rubio-Morales of Las Vegas, Nevada, was trapped in her vehicle after her car slid sideways and rolled into Mittry Lake.  Police performed CPR on Rubio-Morales until she was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, ... Toddler Injured After Parking lot Hit And Run
