Border Patrol Agents Arrest Smugglers In Cabeza Prieta

Border-Patrol-TruckUnited States Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector arrested seven drug smugglers and seized 269 pounds of marijuana Wednesday.   The drugs have an estimated street value of over $134,000. 

Agents discovered footprints crossing the Camino Del Diablo road about two miles east of Papago Well.  Agents were able to apprehend seven Mexican nationals backpacking the narcotics.  The group was following a known smuggling route through the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. 

The case will be submitted to the United States Attorney’s Office for prosecution.  The drugs were seized for destruction.
