Border Patrol Rescues Pregnant Woman

Tuesday (18), Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Station rescued a pregnant undocumented alien from the dangerous currents of the All-American Canal.  A concerned citizen waved down a nearby Border Patrol agent and informed him that a woman was in the canal, in distress and needed help.  Two agents responded to the bank of the All-American Canal near the intersection of Anza Road and Weed Road west of Downtown Calexico.

Agents located the pregnant woman inside the canal and successfully deployed a rescue throw-bag for her to hold onto and pulled her to safety.  The woman was complaining of numbness in her lower extremities, which could have been early sings of hypothermia.  Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the area and she was later transported to El Centro Regional Hospital for further evaluation and care.  The woman was later released from the hospital and transported to the El Centro Sector station for further processing of her illegal entry into the United States.
