Yuma Station agents patrolling near County Ninth Street and the Colorado River spotted two men hiding near the vehicle barrier on the United States side of the border Wednesday. As the agents got closer to the men, the subjects ran back to Mexico, leaving behind 404 pounds of marijuana in the bushes. The narcotic was seized for destruction.
Earlier Wednesday, Wellton Station agents retrieved 52 pounds of marijuana from a smuggler near Papago Well on the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. Papago Well is located on the Camino Del Diablo road, 40 miles west of Ajo. The drugs were seized for destruction and the man, a citizen of Mexico, was turned over to the Attorney’s Office.
