Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has named a former state lawmaker who also served in the U.S. Air Force as the new Department of Veterans' Services chief. Brewer announced Tuesday that Janson Vogt would replace Joey Strickland after he was forced to step down as director in April.
Strickland was reprimanded for hiring former state Representative Terri Proud after Governor Brewer explicitly told him not to.
Vogt has served in Afghanistan, Japan and Qatar. He was appointed to the Arizona House in 2010 and was elected to serve one term later that year.
