Yuma FD Kept Busy With String Of Fires

Barber And Giffords To Speak At Dedication Ceremony For Gabriel Zimmerman

United States Representative Ron Barber and former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords are scheduled to be among the speakers at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., to honor Gabriel "Gabe" Zimmerman.  The 30-year-old Zimmerman was Giffords' outreach director until he was killed in the January 2011 shooting rampage in Tucson.  Six people died and 13 others were wounded, including Giffords and Barber.  ... US Airways Flight Diverted To Phoenix

Authorities say a US Airways flight from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, California was diverted to Phoenix after an unusual odor was detected in the cockpit.  Federal Aviation Administration officials say US Airways flight 797 landed safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.  The agency is working with US Airways to determine the cause of the odor.  It was not ... Couple Arrested On Narcotics Charges

The Yuma County Narcotics Task Force arrested a couple Friday following a conducted surveillance of the area.  Police say 41-year-old Christine Visser and 36-year-old Brian Visser were stopped in their vehicle and police then conducted a search.  Police found methamphetamine with a street value of over $780, cocaine with a street value of $290, marijuana worth $20 and nearly $800 ... Woman Seriously Injured After Collision on Hwy 95

Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Woman In The Leg During Domestic Dispute

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says one person is in custody after he shot a woman in the leg Sunday.  KYMA is reporting the incident occurred early Sunday in a home on South Tornado Avenue.  Police arrested 30-year-old Jose Rodriguez.  Police say Rodriguez used a .40-caliber pistol following a domestic dispute.  Three children were in the home but were not ...
