Woman Stopped At The Border With Purse Full Of Heroin


Border Patrol officials say a woman was arrested Wednesday after they found heroin in her purse.  Officials say 41-year-old Maria Motrales was arrested after attempting to enter the United States at the San Luis Port of Entry.  KSWT says the amount of drugs is valued at $37,000. Gas Prices Continue On Downward Trend


Gasoline prices at the pump around Arizona keep falling.  Officials with AAA Arizona said Thursday that the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline is $3.61 a gallon.  That is a decrease of more than four-cents from last week.  This week's national average is $3.56 per gallon, down by more than seven-cents from last week.  Tucson has the lowest average gasoline ... Brewer Signs Bill Banning Unsolicited Text Messages


Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has signed a bill banning marketers from sending unsolicited text messages to cellphones. The bill Brewer signed Thursday was sponsored by Republican Representative Eddie Farnsworth of Gilbert and targets marketers that flood recipients' phones with offers. Yuma Native and NHRA Racer Dies


An NHRA racer originally from Yuma has died from injuries he sustained in a race over the weekend.  The Yuma Sun reports that 47-year-old Derek Sanchez was seriously injured on Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  He died on Thursday.  Sanchez lost control of his vehicle at the speedway during the second round of eliminations on Saturday.  Sanchez was ... Arrest Made After Police Discover Insurance Fraud


The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says that two persons were arrested after they filed a fraudulent report of a vehicle theft last month.  Police say 49-year-old Christina McBee reported that her 2012 Lincoln Navigator worth $72,000 was missing.  Police say she was unable to produce a spare key.  Police later found out the vehicle was equipped with a security chip, ...
