Turnout for early voting has been low. The Yuma Sun is reporting that of the 19,000 early ballots requested, only 3500 have been returned. Yuma’s primary election is less than two weeks away, on Tuesday, August 27th. Election officials are worried that the late influx of early ballots will not bring the elections to a close for several days after August 27th. If none of the city council candidates receive a 50-percent plus one count, the top six candidates will face off in the General Election on November 5th.
