The first incident occurred when dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol of an illegal alien who was lost in a remote desert area near Mount Signal and needed help.
Agents began a systematic search of the area and were able to encounter the man in distress. The man displayed symptoms of heat exhaustion and dehydration and was examined by an Emergency Medical Technician and found to be in stable condition. The 29-year-old man was determined to be a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States and was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.
The second incident occurred when agents assigned to the Indio Border Patrol Station arrested Adrian Gomez-Giles, a 34-year-old man and Mexican national who illegally entered the United States.
Gomez was arrested approximately 21 miles north of the United States/Mexico International Boundary Fence in Brawley, California. Record checks revealed that Gomez has been removed several times, has a criminal history, and is an active gang member with “Sur 13” a Sureno criminal street gang. Gomez will be presented for prosecution for re-entry after deportation.
