Fourth Suspect Arrested In Yuma Armed Robbery

Angel-VarelaA fourth person has been arrested by area police in connection with recent armed robberies in Yuma. 

The Yuma Police Department says 18-year-old Angel Varela was arrested on Monday in connection with an armed robbery on West Camino Kino last month. 

Varela fled on foot on Monday and threw a stolen handgun, which was recovered.  He was taken into custody and booked on multiple felony charges.  Police say Varela is a suspected violent gang member. 

Three others were arrested last month and booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center for their role in this robbery and another armed robbery at the El Camino Apartments in January.
