Health and Human Services Secretary Holds Discussion On Health Reform In Arizona

Kathleen-SebeliusAs part of her Wednesday visit to Phoenix, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius held a roundtable discussion with some two dozen community leaders and health care providers about the impact of health reform on Arizona.

Those in attendance emphasized the importance of community clinics and health centers for enrollment, service expansion and preventive care.  Planned Parenthood CEO Bryan Howard says by insuring people who do not qualify for Medicaid and cannot afford traditional insurance, the overall health care system will cost less.

Howard says clinics and health care centers have the ability to increase capacity much more quickly than many private physicians to handle the increased numbers of patients expected under the Affordable Care Act.
