Heavy Rains Shutdown 18-Mile Stretch Of Interstate 40

Heavy-Rain-downpourHeavy rains sweeping through parts of northern Arizona forced the closure of a stretch of Interstate-40 Saturday evening and prompted a flash flood watch.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says an 18-mile stretch of the roadway was closed west of Flagstaff because the roadway was flooded.  The agency says that the interstate was shut down about 6:30pm and had fully been reopened less than three hours later.
