Imperial Irrigation District Board Approves Revisions To District’s Equitable Distribution Plan

In light of the seriousness of the drought in the Lower Colorado River Basin, and in preparation for water payback requirements to the Colorado River of about 155,000 acre-feet in 2014, the Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors, Monday, approved revisions to the district's Equitable Distribution Plan. In adopting the revised EDP, the board also recently authorized the implementation of a hybrid method of water apportionment of the available water supply for agricultural water users in 2014. This hybrid method of apportionment is calculated for eligible agricultural acreage by using 50-percent straight-line and 50-percent historical water use.
