Voters in Somerton favored the incumbents during Tuesday’s primary election. Mayor Martin Porchas won his re-election bid and led Vice-Mayor Arturo Magana with over 60-percent of the vote.
In city council races, incumbent Geraldo Anaya led with 24-percent of the vote, followed by Carlos Gonzalez with 21-percent and Miguel Villalpando just under 20-percent. Patricia Miranda garnered 14-percent, Arturo Vargas took 13-percent of the vote and Francisco Vasquez had seven-percent.
The city council candidates will run again in May, since no one took at least half of the votes.
