Local Police Warn About State Police Warrant Scam

Local police are warning of a scam going on in which the caller identifies themselves as working with the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office. Some residents have received phone calls from the scammer claiming to be a captain or lieutenant with YCSO's warrant division. According to police, this suspect tells victims they have a warrant out for their arrest which they must pay off immediately. Victims tell deputies the scammer tells them to purchase a Green Dot money card to pay off their fine. Deputies urge anyone who may has been a victim of this type of scam to contact police immediately.
