A male Mexican national was arrested Tuesday for attempting to smuggle nearly 33-pounds of methamphetamine into the United States. Customs and Border Protection officers referred 35-year-old Venancio Hau-Flores for an inspection of his Mercury sedan. After a narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, officers removed 35 packages of crystal meth in a compartment behind the rear seat. The drugs and vehicle were seized. Hau was turned over to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
