A jury sentenced Jonathon Ochoa on Friday, September 13th, in the first-degree murder of a Yuma man. Ochoa has not been convicted of premeditated murder but this is only one of two counts involving murder. The jury did find the defendant guilty of first-degree murder as alleged in count five. Throughout this trial, state prosecutors brought forth witnesses and said Ochoa took part in the 2012 beating death of Yuma resident, Kendall Smith. They also say he sold drugs under Manuel Bustamante recently convicted for the murder and facing a life sentence. The jury has also found Ochoa guilty for conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
