Imperial County Supervisors held a public hearing this week to consider several resolutions that would allow a project at the Keystone Industrial Park to move forward. Construction is to take place on 110 acres in the Keystone Industrial Park, between Highway 86 and Highway 111. Officials with the project said up to 800 people will work on the construction project and create over 400 permanent positions once the plant is operational. The project would create Ethanol gas from Sugar Cane and Sorghum. The biomass would be used to develop methane gas, with the remnants of the biomass used to develop fertilizer. They have negotiated with local growers to farm the Sugar Cane and Sorghum needed.
