New Contract Approved For Gasden Elementary School District Supervisor

Raymond-AguileraRaymond Aguilera will serve as superintendent of the Gadsden Elementary School District through 2016 after surviving a close vote on his future.  The Yuma Sun reports that the district's governing board this week approved three-to-two a new contract, which requires Aguilera to be paid $112,000 annually.

The board's president, Luis Marquez, praised Aguilera for his efforts and said student achievement gains made by the south Yuma County school district have earned both statewide and national recognition.

Member Tadeo De la Hoya, however, said the time has come for a new superintendent in the district that serves elementary and junior high schools in San Luis and neighboring Gadsden.  He voted against the new contract.
