No New Reports On Arizona’s Unemployment Numbers

There is another casualty of the federal government shutdown: Arizona's unemployment numbers. The state Department of Administration was scheduled to announce the jobless rate for September today. But the department's director of economic analysis says the shutdown in Washington has left her staff without numbers to report.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics did not release the monthly Employment Situation Report as scheduled on October 4th. That means the Arizona labor force and industry employment data for September has been delayed until further notice. Arizona's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 8.3% in August. The July seasonally adjusted rate was 8%.
