One Man In Custody In Connection With Several Shootings

One man is in custody after police arrested him in connection with several shootings in Yuma on Tuesday. The Yuma Police Department along with the Yuma County Sherriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Jesse Vasquez of Yuma after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a customer inside Circle K on the corner of Araby Road and 32nd Street. After the incident, police say Vasquez fled the scene and was later stopped on Araby Road and taken into custody. Police also feel there is evidence to suggest Vasquez was also part of a shooting incident early Tuesday morning near 20th Avenue and Ninth Street, as well as another shooting Monday night in the same area.
There were no injuries in any of the incidents. Vasquez has been booked on five total counts spanning three different cases. Those charges include criminal damage, aggravated assault, and attempted first degree murder. There have been no reported injuries during any of the shooting incidents.
