Prescott Company Faces Fine For Lacking Air Quality Permit

Pure-waferState authorities say a wafer reclaim services company faces a $120,000 fine for not having an air quality permit at its Prescott facility.

Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials on Friday announced the civil penalties against Pure Wafer Incorporated.  During an inspection last year, ADEQ staff reported seeing an emission from the onsite stack that was determined to be hydrogen fluoride.  The inspection also showed the facility did not have an air quality permit.

Pure Wafer later applied for a permit, which was issued in early January.  Officials at the Prescott facility did not immediately return a call Friday seeking comment on the $120,000 fine.
