Prosecutors have told jurors there is just one verdict to be reached in the capital murder trial of an Arizona inmate accused of killing an Oklahoma couple while on the run. In closing arguments Tuesday, Assistant United States Attorney Linda Mott urged an Albuquerque, New Mexico jury to convict John McCluskey on federal carjacking, murder and other charges in the August 2010 deaths of Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. The couple's charred remains were found among the wreckage of their burned out travel trailer on a remote ranch in eastern New Mexico after McCluskey and two other inmates escaped from an Arizona prison. Mott says the evidence shows McCluskey murdered the couple in "cold blood. He did it to take their stuff. He did it to leave no witnesses. And he did it to get away.".
