Public Invited To Express Opinions On Far West Sewer Rate Increase

Foothills residents unhappy with a proposed Far West Sewer rate increase will have another opportunity to voice their opinion this afternoon. 

Far West is proposing an increase from $21 a month to $63 a month, a 188-percent hike in rates.  Now the Arizona Corporation Commission is proposing a rate increase, however not as steep – to $55-$70 a month, a 156-percent hike. 

Far West claims they need to increase the rates or face bankruptcy. 

The meeting starts at 4pm at the Foothills Library.  Several governmental agencies – including Yuma Mayor Al Kreiger – are invited to attend.
