Recent Poll Shows Majority Of Arizonans Support Latest Immigration Reform Bill

Immigration-reform-flagSixty-five percent of Arizonans polled said they support the immigration reform package drafted by the so-called “Gang of Eight” in the US Senate, which includes Arizona senators John McCain and Jeff Flake.

The bill contains border security measures, and sets a long list of requirements over more than a decade for immigrants now living in the country without documents to become citizens.

While the issue is often perceived as partisan, Brock McCleary with conservative-leaning Harper Polling says Republican support is strong.

Sixty-four percent of Arizonans polled said they would be more likely to vote for an elected official who supports the Senate legislation.  The bill passed its first procedural hurdle in the Senate last week.
