Next week is the Yuma County Fair, and also Spring Break for many school children. Temperatures are “relatively” cool now but we have had some early high temperatures and the Yuma Fire Department has had several responses to people suffering symptoms of dehydration.
Now is a good time to start thinking about heat precautions. Remember to stay hydrated by drinking water. Drinks containing alcohol, caffeine, or large amounts of sugar can actually cause a loss of hydration.
Heat and physical activity require more fluids to be consumed and if you are feeling thirsty, you are already behind in your fluid intake.
Warning signs of heat related illness can include; fatigue, nausea, headache, excessive thirst, excessive sweating, dizziness or weakness.
