Report Names Colorado Nation’s Most Endangered River

American-RiversThe Colorado River, which shrinks to a trickle near Yuma before reaching the sea, is the nation’s most-endangered river according to an annual report from American Rivers.

Demand for its water now exceeds supply, and the situation is only expected to get worse.

Matt Niemerski of American Rivers says climate change is taking its toll.

Niemerski says Congress needs to follow up by funding existing conservation and efficiency programs, which he says are the most cost-effective ways to keep more water in the river.
