San Luis Residents Upset Over Purposed Water And Sewer Rate Increase

Money-down-the-drainSeveral residents of San Luis turned out for a city council meeting this week to ask questions about a proposed sewer rate increase.  Officials claim they are trying to make the utility self-sufficient.  Residents are not happy about the proposed increases.

At the meeting Wednesday, Dan Jackson, managing director of Economist.com gave a presentation recommending an increase of up to 30-percent on current rates.  He acknowledges the concern of utility customers that say they cannot afford to pay more, but he says they will have to dig deeper or the city will sink.

Jackson adds San Luis is one of the lowest paying cities in the state for water and sewage and he assures the city will continue to be despite the potential increases.
