SNAP Cuts Affecting People Living On Edge Of Hunger

The federal government's cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP and food stamps, are being felt in Arizona. A 5% cut in SNAP benefits took effect in November 2013, amounting to about $36 per month for a family of four. Jerry Brown with Saint Mary's Food Bank Alliance says the reduction can mean many lost meals for those living on the edge of hunger.
Brown says the food bank gets busier at the end of the month when people start to run low on SNAP benefits and rely more on emergency food boxes.
