The United States Marshals Service apprehended 23-year-old Cristina Vasquez-Espinoza of Yuma Wednesday, September 11th, in coordination with Mexican law enforcement officials. The female fugitive fled after serving a two-year prison sentence and a term of supervised release of less than one year. She was targeted by the Marshals Service after an arrest warrant was issued for a supervised release violation originating from a drug-smuggling offense. She allegedly possessed five kilograms of cocaine while crossing a port of entry with the intent to distribute the narcotic. She served her federal prison sentence and was placed on a three-year term of supervised release. After violating the conditions of her release in April, Vasquez-Espinoza fled to Mexico.
