Border Patrol agents from the Welton Station arrested eight men and seized 469 pounds of marijuana Saturday. Agents patrolling near Gila Bend received a citizens report of possible narcotics smuggling near the Palomas Dairy. Agents responded and began tracking several individuals carrying large bundles. When agents found the group hiding near a wash, they all attempted to leave but were apprehended. Agents found eight men had illegally entered the United States carrying ten bundles of marijuana. The combined weight was 469 pounds valued at $211,000. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office took custody of seven of the men and marijuana while the eighth person, a minor, was removed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
