Woman In Critical Condition After Accident Involving Border Patrol Boat

Boat-AccidentA group of seven people boating out near the Clear Lake inlet on the Colorado River were injured Friday evening. The accident involved a U.S. Border Patrol's vessel.

An eyewitness – Pete Andrassy – saw the accident happen in front of him.  He told our television partner KYMA-TV that he was riding his jet ski down the river when he saw the Border Patrol's vessel traveling fast, around 40-to-50-miles-per-hour and too close to the family's boat before it slammed into the boat.

One woman injured in the accident remains in critical condition.  According to first responders and a family friend, the woman and a child were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center.  The woman was later flown to a Phoenix hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
