The skies over Yuma will be getting busier in the coming weeks with the spring W-T-I Course underway. The Yuma Sun is reporting that Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics One students will receive classroom instruction combined with a rigorous flight curriculum during the six weeks of specialized training, held each spring and fall at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.
The classroom training began March 10 for the current course and soon 99 aircraft will be arriving to start the flight training. The Yuma City Council was told during a W-T-I briefing Tuesday (18). They will fly 24 major evolutions. That includes one exercise that takes place over the city of Yuma and simulates a foreign humanitarian assistance mission that the Marines may be called upon to undertake.
