Yuma Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire Quickly

The Yuma Fire Department responded to reports of a townhome on fire in the 1300 block of Sunset Drive. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a residence at 1310 South Sunset Drive. The fire was extinguished in about five minutes. Fire damage did not extend to adjoining townhomes. There was an adult and a toddler home at the time of the fire. Firefighters removed two cats from the home and gave them first aid. One cat succumbed to its injuries, but one regained consciousness and was taken to a local veterinarian where it is doing well. There were also three dogs, another cat, and a pet bird that were not injured in this fire. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen accidently.
