Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender, 12 Smugglers, And Seize Over 1200 Pounds Of Marijuana During The Weekend

United States Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector arrested a convicted sex offender and 12 smugglers and seized over 1200 pounds of marijuana during the weekend.
 
Yuma Station agents patrolling near San Luis apprehended two people who had entered the U.S. illegally. Further record checks revealed one of the individuals, Mauricio Camacho, was arrested by Vernon Hills Illinois Police and convicted of sexual assault with a minor in April 2010. He was later ordered removed by an immigration judge in May 2012. He is now being processed for prosecution and removal.
 
In another incident, Wellton Station agents patrolling in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge saw a group of people carrying large backpacks near the Camino Del Diablo. Agents responded and were able to arrest one man and seize ten backpacks of marijuana weighing 536 pounds. The man and marijuana, valued at $268,000 were transported to the Wellton Station for further processing.
 
In a third incident, agents patrolling in the same area spotted a group of people walking toward the Camino Del Diablo. Agents responded and apprehended six men who had entered the U.S. illegally. Agents then searched the surrounding area and located five backpacks of marijuana with a combined weight of 235 pounds and valued at over $117,000. The men and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
 
In a fourth incident, agents patrolling near the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge tracked five men to I-8. After finding the group, agents apprehended the men who had entered into the U.S. illegally with seven backpacks of marijuana. The marijuana, weighing a combined 502 pounds valued at an estimated $251,000 and men were turned over to the Maricopa County Sherriff’s Office.
